Kidepo Eco-Camp

Kidepo Eco-Camp (formerly Wenyi Wenyi Community Lodge)

The concept

The Kara-Tunga Eco-Camps in the Karamoja region offer an unique opportunity for an immersive cultural experience in an unspoiled natural environment, that positively impacts the local communities and supports the conservation of biodiversity.

The non-self-contained canvas tents have veranda with safari chairs, 120cm long single beds, solar lighting, linen, toiletries and walking distance from the washrooms.

Conservation

Partner community groups, direct employees, freelance site guides and local service providers are (in)direct beneficiaries. The eco-camps improve people’s income and contribute to the human-wildlife mitigation measures as well.

BED NIGHT FEE

Each guest contributes towards the conservation of the surrounding environment through a levy of 10% paid top of the bed-night fee.

CONSERVATION CONTRIBUTION

Similar to accommodation facilities in the National Park, Kidepo Eco-Camps contributes to the Karenga Community Wildlife Association who manage the community wildlife area connected to the National Park. The Eco-Camp pays an annual concession fee and also shares partly its revenue.
